| | Pantera - 5 Minutes Alone | ] | I saw Superman Returns on Sunday. I didn't like it. It was one of the most boring movies I've seen in the last few years... so much in fact, that about 3/4 of the way through I found myself estimating how much money someone would have to pay me to see it again. I'd probably see it again if somebody were to pay me $20, but not for $17. I say it gets 2 out of 10, just because you have to leave the 1's for movies like Spice World. |

| | Depeche Mode - The Meaning Of Love | ] | If you don't believe dogs are man's best friend... you're incredibly uninformed.
Although, I did see a dog sliding around in the back of a truck on the freeway today, I really hate that. A vet once told me that's probably the most common injury he sees... dogs jumping out of the back of vehicles and parts of their body ripping because of it. If you throw your dog in the bed of your truck unsecured, you don't deserve to have the animal. Yes, they like the smells and sometimes the weather, but only because they don't understand the larger picture of what's happening and the possible consequences. So, if you have a problem with me saying this... please delete me from your list and don't come back. I really wish everyone would realize the responsibility of having an animal as a pet/companion. To everyone who does so responsibly, you know what I mean and good for you. There's no reason we need to be making animals breed constantly, just to end up killing thousands of them a short time after because people don't have the forsight to see they can't handle giving the proper care. I could go on and on... but either we get or we don't I suppose. |

| | Dredg - Zebraskin | ] | It's one thing to protest with signs or sit ins, but please realize what you're doingand keep your objectives in mind. Optimize energy. A bunch of people standing outside of a store supplying information and/or knowledge is fine, but annoying and fighting with people goes nowhere positive. Doing this only propels problems by making people dislike you and your cause because you're acting like an elitist brat with nothing better to do. Intimidation and disrespect won't teach anything worthwhile. Also, if you're there just because you're trying to impress somebody else there, you're an idiot.
Think about it without worrying what your friends or others will think.

| | Jack Sprat - Yellowman | ] | I've been waiting for Aeon Flux to come out since I first heard about it forever ago. I new it probably wouldn't be good. I've always loved the cartoon because of the artwork, morbid stories and somewhat crazy music. I'd heard Charlize Theron was going to be cast as Aeon, which didn't seem to fit for me. I didn't think they could pull it off... and they didn't. They took an awesome storyline and watered it down to the point of generic. They ruined my favorite character... Trevor Goodchild. Some of the sets were kind of interesting, and ironically Charlize Theron was about the only good thing in the movie. All in all it wasn't cold enough. The main characters weren't so lonely and emotionless. For once I found myself thinking 'couldn't they be more vague?'... because the animated Aeon Flux was always leaving questions unanswered, but in a great way. They had so many incredibly creative ideas to work with and they used about 0.5% of them. What a sad ordeal... for me anyway.

| | Bjork - Human Behaviour | ] | Worrying is a type of thinking that we can't turn off.
People aren't just the sum of their genes. Genes don't build particular parts of the anatomy or determine behavior completely by themselves. Most genes influence aspects of anatomy and behavior, along with environmental factors both within and outside people. People make a confusing error, as well as oversimplify, when they talk about genes alone controlling particular parts of us, or our behaviors.
Some people think that we're all just small parts of a world controlled by very precise and specific mathematical laws. These laws would govern genetics, evolution, fate... everything. This would mean our brains themselves, which seem to control all our actions, are also to be ruled by these same laws. So, is all this activity nothing more than the behavior or effect of some huge mathematical equasion... which our brains and minds are to only be understood in terms of? Are those laws reason and/or what some would refer to as "God"?
There is no arguing, there is a reason for everything... but we don't always know. People normally do all sorts of things for reasons they are not consciously aware of, because the behavior is produced by parts of the brain that operate unconsciously. This frustrates me to no end with people I know and interact with... if you know me well, then you're probably aware... haha. One of the main jobs of consciousness is to keep our life tied together into a coherent story, a concept of self. It does this by creating explanations of behavior... explanations based on our self image, memories, present situations, expectations of the future, and in the environment in which the behavior is produced.
Where's the line that separates thinking from insanity? Sometimes, when I look at the world around me, I don't think there is one. |

| | Dredg - Triangle | ] | Strength is not an absolute value. To be strong is to evolve. Mutability is strength. Evolution is a string of victories by the strong over the meek. The meek shall not inherit the earth. We have already evolved so much, our actions would be nearly incomprehensible to a human from 1,000 years ago. Humanity is flawed... but if we lose those flaws, we are no longer human.

| | David Bowie - Fashion | ] | Everybody knows I'm way against using animals for fashion, and that putting fashion before music sucks. However, that doesn't mean that all "fashion" is the worst thing ever. I think hairstyles and clothes and stuff like that can be interesting, as long as it doesn't dictate who you are. So many people claim to be anti-fashion but they dress as if they are wearing a uniform to fit into the scene they like. Everyone participates in fashion, whether they want to or not. Although it's not super relative to the average person, fashion design is a valid art form. Fashion is a form of expression to a certain extent. Art is basically expression through creation. For a lot of people, fashion can be a creative outlet often times only limited by budget, location, and/or other resources. What you wear and how you look have effects on how you feel. I don't know anybody who wears things strictly because they're uncomfortable. But this is not a report on fashion. I'm saying all these people saying fashion has no purpose in life, need to look at their lives again. Any concern about what you, or someone else look like, is fashion. Dressing yourself, is fashion. Looking in a mirror, is fashion. Combing your hair, is fashion. Wearing a hood up indoors, is fashion. Dying your hair, is fashion. Labeling yourself, is fashion. Shaving, is fashion. Band shirts, are fashion. Scenes, are fashion. Fitting in, is fashion. Acknowledging appearance or that anyone is going to notice you, is fashion.
If you want reasons why any of these things are fashion, just let me know.
It's not always fashion that sucks, it's excess. |

| | Sunny Day Real Estate | ] | I'm not sure if I like Valentine's Day. I like the idea, but I don't think it should be a holiday every year. I think romance and relationships should be celebrated all year, not just when a slacker holiday comes along and brings obligation. It's fine if someone likes it like that, but I feel gifts and suprises should be when you feel like doing it... and that's what I do because it just seems to mean more to me. Valentine's Day is like a lazy man's chance at redemption for the whole year, which is pathetic. If the holiday weren't in place, I know some people wouldn't ever do anything. I'd like to see what would happen if we didn't have this huge reminder again and again. Not to mention that it also really alienates single people. Do people really need this date to realize how important their significant other is to them? I guess in some ways it may be good for the economy, but that's a lame excuse.
Although, I do think it's awesome when father's and relatives give Valentine's Day gifts to their daughters and stuff like that. |
